Another visit with my family, we travel from south Lancs and I am delighted to report that my husband is still impressed with the ale (Grindleton Ribble Gold and Timothy taylor landlord on this visit) and the food is excellent as ever with some great accolades to back up our thoughts which is lovely and deservedly seen; Michelin Guide, AA Best Pubs Guide, Alastair Sawday guide.... I'm not sure this gem will remain hidden for much longer, a cracking pub, voted on of the the Top 50 in England and Wales and deservedly so. We shall continue to come, it's just ace. I've just read the comment posted by droom...... and I'm flabbegasted.... the portions are not miniscule at this place (in fact, I'd go as far as to say that they are actually a little over-facing at times with certain dishes). I don't agree with the value for money comments either and I've visited 4 times with friends (not just my opinion). It's not in the same category as the Three Fishes at Mitton and I'm not sure it's trying to be either, but I think the prices reflect good proper home made food with good local ingredients. This is a true rural country pub trying hard to make it work and it shows. The next time I go (first week Oct) I will mention your comments to them and I bet they'll take it in and be all the better for it! This place is a gem waiting to be discovered.

The Lower Buck Inn, Waddington

We used to go here a lot but since it has changed hands it's not what it used to be at all. Sad sad sad. It's clean and sterile and now mimics it's sister pub over the road. Good selection of ales still but I'm an old fart (50 ish)and like what I like! Better for young'uns.
