The Happy Man, Englefield Green
I was here just about every session when at RHC in the 70s, so it was f=great to get back to the Green to see the Happy Man still existed.
It does, and it's even better than it was back then. It has a friendly landlord, a good range of bitters kept and served perfectly and good food, too.

The Three Willows is a cricket-themed pub in a small Essex village. It's mainly a food pub, and deservedly popular. However there's a pool table, a petanque team and a small group of friendly regulars.
Plenty of seating in the large garden for the Summer, and very pleasant it is too, sitting in the sun with a pint of something by Greene King.

The George IV, Great Amwell
Popped into the George IV while visiting the nearby nature reserve, and I'm glad we did. Beer (Adnams) in good condition, and bar staff very friendly.
Very tempting menu indeed, alll three courses, but we were boring and went for the rib of beef (three of us) and a Peterhead cod. The presentation was excellent and the food very nicely prepared, with the beef cooked to our liking.
Landlord (I assume) brought the food to the table. He was helpful and pleasant.
I'd recommend this place to anyone.
