The Chichester Arms, Mortehoe

I was a bit disappointed. After reading these reviews I expected great things, but was left feeling they were either having a bad week (yes it wasn't just the one visit) or they only make an effort during the Summer months and we were there in January.

The staff themselves are fairly civil, but the locals are unfriendly, and you definitely feel like an outsider as they push in at the bar - and promptly get served before you.
The bar just didn't seem that well run - no mixers had been stocked, no ice ready - it wasn't as though we turned up at opening time on the dot either, it was gone 1pm. The barman handed out the food menu then the boss promptly took them away again because it was 'specials only.'Perhaps someone could mention it to the barman eh? The Specials are really very special - read burger and chips, sausage and chips, pie and chips, chips and chips and wait for it - nutroast. A whopping �5.95 for a cheese toastie at lunchtime. Surely no one can justify that price for two slices of bread, ten crisps and a limp lettuce leaf. What a complete rip off.

To say this is the best pub in the village is really very telling. A definite one for the locals which is a shame. Let's hope the locals can keep the place afloat.
