Kings Head, Crouch End

Atmosphere is ok, friendly, not a lot of seats in the front bit where everyone goes because you can smoke so get there before 3pm.

a good selection of poncey/nice beers, although regularly run out of such drinks like erm, "white wine" on busy nights , and key beers like staropramen etc

most of the staff are friendly enough for a busy place but the younger ones a bit clueless ie. opening bottles of champagne and asking for non standard drinks can be a problem - and the manager seems to have given the bar crew futuristic fiddly stick pokey things to open up the tills and it takes ages to pay for a round

its just ok really, and popular because Crouch End is shit for pubs in general. I appreciate its not an easy job to do, but the bar manager/management clearly need to pull their finger out and sort out some of the basics - particularly when their happy to charge top dollar..

The Birdcage, Stoke Newington

Stands out in the barren windswept pub landscape that is Stamford Hill/Stokie high st. Quite nice inside, good sofas, and a decent crew drink there. Staff are up to good standard, as is the food. Drinks expensive though, cos like most pubs that boast polished floorboards and brass instead of stained carpet, its a little bit up its own arse. If your in the area pop in its alright.

The Litten Tree, Old Street

No, the food is appalling. Had the misfortune of stumbling in here for lunch a few weeks back when working off my manor. Food took almost an hour to arrive (no exaggeration), and the place was near dead. When it did turn up, my shrivelled greyburger was straight out of a Captain Birdseye frozen burger box, half cooked of course. Cold chips. Drank my flat beer and watched two disappointed punters from opposite table have their food sent back also. Complained upon exit, staff didn't care. What a shame this hole isn't my local.
