The Boatman, Guildford

I think some of the comments here are most unfair, it is blatantly a massively under-invested pub. Punch have obviously not spent any money on the site in donkeys years and unfortunately, as the place is heaving in summer there is generally a little wait on food. I personally have never waited more than 20 minutes for my food and have always thoroughly enjoyed it. The BBQ's they used to do last summer were simply out of this world and the roast dinners were amazing.
The staff I have always found to be well trained, polite and helpful; the previous manager (I don't know if anyone can help me out here, I think his name was nick) did a fantastic job of trying to sort it out and I know through a friend of mine who knows him the company who own it always promised to refurb it but unfortunately just continued to bleed the cash cow dry.
The Weyside have tried and succeeded where no other pub co. have even dared to tread; how many Bar and Restaurants these days prepare fresh food and have the b**ls to do so in an open kitchen, and one so tiny?
One re-occurring theme here is the 'over priced' tag; well in general Guildford, like many towns, whilst being a lovely place to live, IS massively over-priced, have you ever tried to buy a house there...let alone a pint of Frulli for example.
