The Dukes Head, Hamstreet

It seems clear to me that the positive reviews here have been posted by the proprietor. Because this is an awful place and the previous posts, which we wish we'd listened to, are spot on. The landlord has a serious attitude problem and new business is discouraged. His wife (?), who also doubles as a cook for the unappetising looking food, is no better. They both were unpleasant verging on the rude. The lady was positively obnoxious.

We had planned an afternoon at the Duke's Head but, without even finishing our first pint, we decided to walk to the Woolpack Inn at Warehorne instead where the staff were lovely and the beer spot on.

It's heartbreaking that so many pubs across England are closing. And that publicans are struggling. But one can't help make the connection between the most inhospitable of people and their misplaced attraction to the hospitality industry.
