How do I even begin to describe the appalling experience I had at this pub yesterday evening?

To start with, despite having watched countless cup and league football matches here in the past the Carling cup semi-final wasn't on - something it took the new "manager" about 15 mins to sort out and even then only on one small TV in the back.

Later, as it was cheap pints night, the pub began to fill up with local students (which I don't mind at all) and the wait at the bar became interminable. After 15 minutes at the bar next to another guy, both waiting to be served and watching punter after punter get served before us. I grabbed the attention of the Australian barmaid who I already knew had a terrible attitude towards customers and told her that the bloke next to me had been waiting ages to be served.

At this she had a go at me, saying it was 'really busy' (blimey, really?!) and I was being abusive (you may not believe me but I wasn't). When it came to my turn she looked straight at me and then served someone else. When I remonstrated she said that I'd basically brought it on myself.

At this point I asked for the "manager" who eventually turned up and accused me of being abusive (I really, really wasn't - just utterly furious) and I should understand that it was busy. Essentially he told me to calm down and f**k off, and that was that.

The staff here used to be a bit ropey but nevertheless fairly nice. Nowadays, they're just useless and effing rude to boot.

Don't bother with this pub for a while, they luckily have quite a high turnover of staff so hopefully this total lack of giving a toss should go away soon.
