The Queens Hotel, Apperley Bridge

We visited the pub last night (18/04/08) as a group of 7. We were first in the pub for the Early Bird menu, and I was surprised by the length of time it took to serve us.
We ordered drinks and they forgot one.
We were left 20mins before they took our order.
Our son's order Nacho's with cheese and received Dorito crisps covered with cheese. For main course the chips were dark brown rather than golden, I order Steak & Kidney pie and played find the kidney. Our son had lasagne and it cam dry and bland. For desert I order Jam Roly Poly and custard and received the equivalent of a small 1cm deep piece surrounded by custard in a dirty bowl, our son's and hairs in. We returned them to receive back the same size serving with cold custard.
some of the dishes were good but these were awful, on paying the bill I asked to see the manager to complain, his replies were we have other customers to serve, we were first in, and he felt 20mins was reasonable waiting times. I questioned him and he walked off and stood at the end of the bar sulking, with a waitress assuring complaints are taken on board. As for his response, I felt like Gordon Ramsay as if he spent more time serving customers rather than laughing and joking with the waitress's he may build a decent business. For us it will be a long time before we return.
