The Ben Nevis Inn, Glen Nevis

Huge hangar of a pub, lots of space both inside and out. We had spent the day climbing Ben Nevis and came down to find Red Cuillin, Nessie's Monster Mash and Sheepshagger on tap, a great choice of beers in good condition.

Stayed for a steak and chips - food is a tad on the expensive side but the cooking is way above what pub-grub standard. Steak came nicely medium-rare, pink in the middle, with whisky sauce, and we had a highly sinful cranachan for dessert (cream, cream, cream, whisky and strawberries, roughly in that order) - bill came to 30 for two. Highly recommended, particularly for the friendly and very competent staff.

The Taybank, Dunkeld

Beer was in good condition and it's a nice pub, food looked decent and beer was in good condition (Trade Winds and Landlord). But we were charged 3.84 for two halves. That's more than London prices!

The Plasterers Arms, Norwich

Interesting real ales both local (Tipples, Spectrum) and 'foreign', mainly from micros. One not in nice condition was taken off as soon as I pointed it out - others were all tip top. Evening started a bit deserted but warmed up after nine o'clock.

The pub has really been refurbished nicely; bar staff friendly and chatty, and a 10% discount for CAMRA members too.
