The Golden Eagle, Lincoln

I visited this pub in February. Looks attractive from the outside and is better still inside. Appears to comprise a typical bar and lounge. A good selection of beers on offer and seems to be promoting craft beers at the moment. I tried a local porter and an American style craft beer brewed by Castle Rock. The porter was excellent but then I'm biased as it's my beer of choice, but still a lovely beer nonetheless. The American craft beer was o.k. But nothing special and at £5.00 a pint probably a tad over priced. A good range of beers on offer though and too much to sample in a single night. The lounge featured a real log fire in a cast iron hearth and so added to the overall cosy atmosphere. There was a decent menu on offer but unfortunately finishes at 7.30pm so I wasn't able to try the food. But overall impressions very good. A decent place to start a pub crawl down the High Street.
