The Keston Lodge, Islington

I like this place although have only ever been early week when it hasn't been that busy....God knows how long it would take to get served on a Friday night. The bar staff are just about on the right side of "I'm too cool to serve you" although once or twice it's been a close call. Food is good, especially the pies.

The Harwood Arms, Fulham

A great pub, especially in winter with the fire roaring, Sunday papers and a bloody Mary....fantastic. However - the staff: "hit and miss" is being polite. As someone who lived round the corner for 12 years I regarded this as my local but went less and less frequently because some of the people behind the bar (whose turnover seemed to be quite frequent) were just so bloody rude, as if by serving you they were actually doing you a favour. I'd love to recommend it unreservedly but just can't.
