The Globe Inn, Linslade

My (young) teenage sons took me to The Globe Inn, Linslade for a surpirse Mother's Day lunch in March 2009. The total bill was in excess of �90 for 4 of us, and I can honestly say, choosing the Sunday roast from an extremely limited themed menu (just 4 choices) was most definitely a mistake...I had better roast dinners at school in the 1970's...and they were BAD!!! Undercooked, unpeeled roughly chopped carrots, 2 measely undercooked roast potatoes, gristley, fatty & tasteless wafer thin lamb, served with aneamic looking & tasteless stuffing...IT WAS FOUL!! Probably because of the occasion and the pleasant weather, the pub was very busy, but access through the bar to the dining area was crowded out by bikers and difficult to negotiate. The number of waiting staff was high, and we didn't seem to be served with courses or drinks by the same member of staff twice...with the exception of 2, they were brusque and unfriendly. When paying the bill, we declined to add a tip, which caused the barmaid/waitress to pass a less than kind comment, and not one word of thanks for our custom from her or her colleagues as we left. THIS PUB (AND THAT'S ALL IT IS!) IS TRYING DESPERATELY TO BE SOMETHING IT IS NOT.
