The Highwayman, Sourton

Well, this is definitely an intersting pub and worth a visit just to see the place. However, when we stopped here for a drink and a meal in the summer, we found a few things that we didn't like, Firstly, the menu was very limited; I had a turkey ploughmans type meal, the salad was very small and the turkey appeared to be processed meat, for the price I was very disappointed. On the other hand, my wife had smoked salmon and was very pleased with her meal. Also, there were a lack of tables suitable for dining. We ended up eating the meal with plates balanced on our laps. On the whole, for location and ambience, this is a good pub; but do not choose it as a destination for food. (Although the pies are supposed to be very good).

The Kings Arms, Portesham

We stopped here for lunch on a visit to the area, the food was fantastic for normal pub food, and the owners (I think they were the owners) were very friendly. We sat outside so can't comment on the atmosphere inside the pub itself, but for a lunchtime stop, highly recommended!

(Great for children too as there is a large, safe lawn for them to run on).

The Fisherman's Arms, Plymouth

Ignore my previous comment - this place has been desecrated, turned into another of the standard Barbican type pubs. It has been sold and refurbished in the worst possible way. It's lost all his character, olde pub charm, friendliness and individuality. There is no longer a free jukebox (or indeed any jukebox), pool table or dart board. AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS!!! Try the Commercial instead if you're in the area.
