The Wellington Hotel, Brecon

Large Marstons (Carlesberg) pub and hotel in centre of town. Only 1 ale on - Pedigree, which was far too cold so issue with cellar temp, flat/stale . Other pump was not on. I sat for 30 mins waiting for food , at a dirty table. Of the 10 tables in the back, 7 were dirty and not cleared and cleaned for the entirety of my meal. Poor. Where was the management? Where was the training? Granted there was a new bar man, but it wasn’t busy in the bar, so clearly training is an issue. I might have to resort to ‘spoons tomorrow!

Kings Head, Keswick

Disregard the old reviews, things have clearly changed since 2016 - where I might ask are the local reviewers for BITE.?
Friendly pub, locally owned, NOT a national chain. Beers do come largely from Carlsberg Marston’s but well kept and with guest ales too.
Food freshly cooked, reasonable price. Staff very welcoming and friendly
Beers today Wainwright Amber 4.0, J.W.Lees MPA 3.7, Loweswater Gold 4.3, Cumbrian Session IPA 4.5, Marston’s 61 Deep 3.8. Tried the Amber, excellently kept and saw at least 2 of the others which looked fresh and well kept. Try it.

Old City Bar, Canterbury

Disappointing Shepherd Neame pub. 4 pumps for cask beers but only 1 had beer. Stale and lifeless Spitfire at £4.30 @ pint. Luckily there was Guinness and bottles of Newcastle Brown.
Won’t be hurrying back.
