The Hope and Anchor, Wokingham

I stayed here a couple of times recently when working nearby and like what Reid and Hattie are trying to do. There are salsa classes on a Tuesday evening that bring a community feel to the place, the food is classic pub grub (with Canadian dish, Poutine, now and then thanks to Reid) and the rooms clean. Most importantly, the beer is very well kept and they have a good selection. Friendly bunch too, which was nice for an out of towner.

I hope they continue to improve the place, and that they get the custom to support it.

The Railway Inn, Yatton

The most unwelcoming pub I've been in for years. Popped in for a pint whilst waiting for a cab and felt really uncomfortable. The place was messy, playing loud dance music, very brightly lit and the barmaid was far from welcoming. Pint of Butcombe was quite good, but I drank it in record time and waited outside. A shame as I was looking forward to visiting an old fashioned railway pub.

Fox and Hounds, Uffington

Great pub, very nice landlord who made us very welcome. Food was excellent and homecooked. Would go back time and again if in the area. Stumbling back to the campsite was good fun as well, although the landlord did offer us a lift!
