The Borough Arms, Dunmere

This is another pub that should be listed as "restaurant that serves beer". The drinking area was minute compared to the eating area. St Austell pub, so the usual three available along with the ubiquitous Rattler. Friendly staff.

Serves a carvery every day, along with quite a varied menu. If wanting a carvery on Sunday - you have to book a table to ensure a seat. we managed to squeeze 3 of us onto a table for 2. The main menu was very good - braised ham hock with honey and mustard sauce was excellent, as was the spinach and 3 cheese lasagne. The puddings were very good (apple pie), but served with the smalled amount of clotted cream you've ever seen. They must use a melon baller to serve it!

Booked for the carvery on the following Tuesday - the choice of meat was good (pork, turkey and beef) but the vegetables looked rather sad. I've never seen grey savoy cabbage before.

The Golden Lion, Port Isaac

First time visit - as noted by previous poster the beach car park is now closed. The new car park is a pretty long walk from the village itself, and not to be taken lightly if you have health issues. My knees may take some time to recover.

The Golden Lion is what I would call a rpoper, seaside pub. Small, great seating, overlooking the harbour itself. It also appears to be guarded by a very old cannon...

The usual St Austell beers available, along with Rattler. Served a fairly decent pint. Didn't try the food, but looked on in awe as the biggest piece of cod I've ever seen was delivered to a table near us.

My visit was somewhat spoiled by the children allowed to scream and shout by their parents. Nothing the pub can do about this, but incredibly irritating just the same.

The Shipwrights, Padstow

We've been to this pub once before, and felt it worth a second visit. Fantastic looking pub, with a sympthetically decorated interior - except the flat screen TVs, but then you can't have everything.

Very good choice of beers and ciders - the usual St Austell suspects and Rattlers. Friendly staff who don't hassle you. Have yet to try the food, but it looked pretty good. Difficult to get a seat ouside on a sunny day, so had to settle for inside. Not sure why this pub hasn't got into the Good Beer Guide yet.
