The Gladstone, Nottingham

Nice little "back street" pub. No kids allowed (hard for families but there're plenty of Wetherspoons to herd them into) and no food apart from bar snacks.
Does get crowded of an evening since it's a small place but in fine weather the award-winning beer garden is a treat. Beers can be a bit hit'n'miss but they serve a fine Kipling.

The Magna Carta, Lincoln

Nice pub. Friendly staff, well-treated beers, much welcome after the "climb" up Steep Hill.
