The Bishop's Finger, Barbican

I visited this pub for the first time yesterday (a Tuesday evening in April). It was busy but not heaving at 7pm, and rather quieter by 9pm.

It's a very clean place - the tables are amazingly shiny! - but not terribly comfortable. Many of the tables are more suited to leaning on than sitting at, but I guess a lot of the visitors are just having a quick pint at lunchtime or after work so perhaps that makes sense. With all the hard surfaces everywhere, though, there's no sound absorbtion. If it was really busy it would be very noisy. There are a few tables outside, and there's not much traffic, but on a damp April evening they we decied to give them a miss!

The Bishop's Finger (when in Rome...!) was fine and the Early Bird was OK. There's a short food menu on which pride of place goes to the Smithfield Market sausages (pick any 3 types from a long list), which weren't at all bad. The staff were friendly, helpful and attentive.
