The Cross Guns, Avoncliff
My wife & i ate a meal at the Cross Guns last night. Athhough the bar staff & the beverages were great, the meal was not great. Particularly my sreak. ! I had an 16 ox T bone steak & it was tough, overcooked, certainly not as ordered. The knife provided was not suitable. Very blunt. Also, what ever the steak was cooked on was VERY dirty. The steak was coated in black, terrible tasting, burnt fat. A shame for a pub in such wonderfull setting. There was no "Was your meal ok?" They obviously dont care !
I believe I was served by the owner/manager too.AThis pub is fine for a drink but I am afraid I will vote with my feet when eating & will give my trade to "The Inn at Freshford" when in this area again.
