The Rodney Inn, Little Baddow

Popped in on a quiet Sunday afternoon for a beer and a bite to eat. Big mistake! Barmaid on her first day with no idea how to pull a pint and not given any guidance whatsoever from the landlord, who was, to put it mildly, miserable and unhelpful when asked for advice on real ales. Really shouldn't be front of house. Ordered food - our next mistake! Took approx. 40 mins to be served a poor excuse for a Ploughmans lunch, prawn baguette, cheese baguette, ham, egg and chips, chicken in red wine sauce with chips and vegetables. The chicken had been cremated and presentation left a lot to be desired. Woman who delivered food to table had obviously suffered a personality bypass and seemed most put out that we should spoil her Sunday afternoon by ordering 'food'. Should really be a nice pub in a lovely setting that we would want to visit again but sadly misses the target by a country mile.
