The Horse and Groom, Rearsby

Really nice old pub, serves a good pint . Went on a Tuesday night steak night , had a rump steak for �6.50 . To my surprise it was a big plate full of nice chips with fresh mushrooms and coleslaw, salad and peas. The steak was really good and great value for money . This place should advertise itself as people in Leicester dont know about it . Impressive !

The Otter, Derby

The Kegworth Otter looks nice from the outside but dont bother going here for Sunday lunch unless you have the appetite of a small sparrow ! Its not cheap , around the �10 mark for the main course . What little we got could have fitted on a saucer [not joking] , I had 2 small slices of COLD beef, a shred of cabbage ,a parsnip thinly sliced , a spoonful of hard carrots and 2 halves of roast potato [no mash]. All this served on a cold square plate . The gravy was nice , but failed to warm up this tiny offering . In short this meal was appalling ! I should also mention the staff are not very friendly either. I was taken there as a guest so did not like to complain at the time, this meal was embarrassing.
