The Old Mill, Plumstead

Ventured in last weekend for the 1st time in 4 years of living in Plumstead and I have to say I'm appalled with myself for not trying it sooner and having such ridiculous preformed opinions on it based on it's external appearance.

Very old fashioned inside without feeling remotely grotty. Put instantly at ease by the barman who obviously loves his ales and will wax lyrical for hours on them. Lovely unpretentious, unthreatening atmosphere. Excellent pint of Doom Bar and Double Century as well. He told me they have a beer festival on the 28 and 29 June. I will most definitely be there and many times before!

Bar Polska, Holborn

Very good Polish bar, not what I was expecting, (thoroughly bar like as opposed to pub like) quite small, VERY busy. Everyone spills out into the alleyway outside, makes you feel sorry for all the sober people who have to walk through the drunken crowds :o( I was there 2 weeks ago and we had a blast, the lagers are very good indeed, all bottled from what I recall but all big 500ml ones. You can't go wrong with a Lech (so many jokes, so little time). Polska vodka is good too, very friendly staff, they all seemed to be making an effort to see to you as quickly as possible whilst having a bit of fun themselves.

Great Harry, Woolwich

Hard to believe that a Wetherspoons is probably the most modern pub in Woolwich. It's not great but that's due to the customers a lot of the time. It has an immense range of drinks from around the world, so many beers & lagers & ciders, whatever your preference they seem to have it. Good, cheap food as you would expect with a Wetherspoons and plenty of seating. It's a breath of fresh air in dirty, grimey Woolwich, we need more places like this but hopefully not just more chain bars. The DLR is coming, hurry up, what more incentive do you need!?
