The Cutter Inn, Ely

Went in to the Cutter mid-afternoon last week. It was smokey and there were dirty ashtrays on the tables which hadn't been cleared away. The music was slightly loud for a relatively empty pub. There was only one real ale in stock and two of the lagers were out of stock too. We took a look at the menu with a view to returning to eat later, but were not tempted.

The White Swan, Harringworth

Has recently changed hands - food is now excellent - a wonderful wide range of choices with daily specials AND is even open on Monday lunchtimes! Three or four good real ales, and friendly atmosphere. Has just started opening on Sunday nights again too. Highly recommended.
