Duke of York, Lichfield

Great local ales, the seasonal Porter from Joule's brewery was a treat when I visited in December 2013.
However, a return visit on March 1st presented us with a 'No children' policy despite our intention to savour the excellent home cooking I remembered from December - no mention of this on the website - and the surly response from the staff remains a theme: Lichfield's 'oldest pub' clearly clings-on to some traditions others have moved on from to be successful. Ambiance is important = 6/10
