The Crown, Devizes

What can I say about this place. Stark and soulless describes it well. If the Saturday night I visited was anything to go by, this place could be renamed the Marie Celeste. With poor beer and blaring TVs in every corner, I left pretty sharpish.

The Bear Hotel, Devizes

Came here for a Saturday evening drink recently. It was really busy in the back bar, a group of ladies in long gowns, meeting for pre-ball drinks, gave the place a pleasant upmarket atmosphere. Service was friendly, but as usual for pubs in Devizes I cannot recommend the beers that much. the 6X was its usual variable self. I find Wadworth's beers are never truly satisfying. Horizon was the best of a mediocre bunch.
