The Golden Ball, York

If this is the pub I'm thinking of it's great and I'm loathe to recommend it as it was really nice and quiet when I visited. It's got bar billiards and a incredibly polite barman/landlord who refused to ridicule me even when I pronounced Bombardier as if I were French (Bombar-dee-ay) in a moment of utter madness.

The John F Kennedy, Dewsbury

If you catch it when it's open (weekend evenings generally) this is a great boozer. Good jukebox, friendly regulars and a proper landlord in the form of Ted, who doesn't actually care whether anyone drinks there or not. More like your mate's Dad's house than a pub.

Bloody good food and Richard, the landlord, is very friendly. As are all the staff. Good Jukebox too.
