The Montague Arms, Roehampton

Dear Sir/Madam,

Having just today driven past the Montague Arms, in Roehampton, I continue to be saddened at how it looks. I perhaps feel more upset than others, because I was born there in 1949. My late grandmother - suname of Coggan originally had the license, which she passed to her daughter, my mother Mrs Ruth Macey (nee Coggan). My family continued to run the pub until I was approx. 8 yrs old, when my father and mother decided to get out of the licensing business. My brother and I, Mum and Dad moved down the A3 to live in Claygate.

Obviously, everytime I pass Roehampton, I get quite upset, to see such a grand old building now looking more like a slum! If anbody can tell me what is likely to happen to the building, I would appriciate it. When I passed today, I saw a 'Foxtons' board up, saying that there would soon be flats there. I hope that does not mean that the building will be demolished, as I understand it, as it is a listed building, they can only covert, but NOT demolish it.

Regards,

Mick Macey
