Founders Arms, Bankside

What are you talking about Mr Oxford Don. I've been drinking here regularly for ages and although the pub's architectural integrity is a little suspect, it is a lovely place to drink. Even when it is very busy the pub has a relaxed, professionally run comfortable feel to it. The view is unparalelled, the staff are happy and very efficient and the food is excellent. The Youngs beers are always served perfectly and just because they will now be brewed in Bedford can't make too much difference. Anyway, it'll be refreshing to see Charles Wells Bombadier on sale here soon. A fine traditional English beer from a historic family brewery.

The Ship Inn, Wandsworth

I have always loved this pub and drunk here all the time since I came to London 8 years ago. We were worried that when Youngs got hold of it it would be ruined by corporateness. This is not the case. The improvements are good, extra furniture and drinking space outside, new barbecue area, cleaner toilets, lower beer and wine prices. I got around to eating in the restaurant last night for the first time in a long while with my girlfriend. The food was excellent (Scallops for me, Chicken with sweet potato mash for her), followed by the brilliant sticky toffee pudding which can not be bettered. They have kept the head chef amd most of the staff (though a couple of them still look a bit miserable). Live music in the bar was excellent, not too loud and a pleasent surprise. Overall very pleased Youngs have not made a mess of it.

The Sun, Richmond

Excellent pub to watch rugby in, full of real boozers. Joe, the boss, is a star. Best pub in Richmond.
