The Shoulder of Mutton, Wantage

I used to be a regular visitor here, but my first visit back last week was a bit of a shock. No TVs, no loud music, all the old crowd seem to have gone save for fat Tony and a couple of others. The bar's been ripped out and replaced, it's a bit of a shock but it works. They serve food - vegetarian in the Shoulder of Mutton! but the bar is buzzing and they have loads of real ales on. I went over to go to the toilet and swore when I saw what's been done there, but was told by a regular to watch out and not swear! It'll take a bit of getting used to, but I like it, generally. The feeling and atmosphere is very good and I can see where theyr'e trying to get to. Well done!

The Lamb and Flag, Longworth

Hard to find, this pub! In a cul de sac literally and figuratively. Beer very unexciting, but still pricey. Food menu fantastic, service great, dining experience like being in a cafeteria but paying ridiculous amounts of money. Five of us had one course but several dishes (i.e. rice etc) and it came to �118 without drinks. Not terrifically unreasonable for a GOOD meal, but way over the top for what we had. No return for us!
