Painters closed yonks ago, which was no great disaster. Was replaced by the Buffet Lounge Indian Restaurant which has also closed... this is more of a shame, 'cause it was quite good.

A huge great, poorly lit, hulk of a place. The clientele are a deplorable mix of hardened drinkers and baseball cap wearing scumbags - the trick is to get there early enough to secure a bit of personal space. Used to enjoy the Wetherspoons quiet pub policy of yore, now it has a DJ booth and perpetually sticky dancefloor. To think that a new generation of Lutonian youth is bred out of unions made in this squalid environment makes my heart bleed.
Service laughably poor.
Still, the ale is cheap.
