Profile information

I live in Rural Suffolk, am passionate about Real Ale, a member of Camra for three years, not active,(yet), I love Pubs especially rural pubs.
I am concerned about the apparently growing number of cases where pubs (Rural and Urban) that are bought, run down and sold off as houses.

The Castle, Bredfield

This Pub is open again!

Don't know who paddysmudge is / was but his is the wailing, discordant song, of all failed, wanna-be, but ain't got the personality, non-publicans all over this country.
Pubs only get supported when they are run by a real publican who has the talent to entice custom through the door and then give a reason for the custom to return.

The Star Inn, Lessingham

We stayed at the Star for five nights last July, after which I sent in a recommendation to B.I.T.E.
Sue, Mick and Matt had not been in place for long then but were already stamping their mark on the place.
The range of real ales (constantly changing) of four or five were all excellent, Mick is a very attentive cellarman and exacts a very high standard, and the bar was well stocked with a wide range of wines, spirits and lagers.
They were blessed with a very capable Chef (Gary?) who consistently turned out high quality food of a broad range of styles and ten months on I've yet to experience a better breakfast.
Sue, always cheerful and helpful, whether in person, over the phone or via email, exacts the same high standards and attention to detail in the bar, restaurant and accommodation areas.
