Once a jewel of a pub with regulars coming from far & wide. Good beer, interesting conversations, quiz nights, folk evenings and convivial company. No music - just chat.
Since it changed tenants around 15 months ago it had gone down hill fast. Most of the long time regulars have been driven out by the rowdy, drunken behaviour and foul language of the manager's friends. Seventies pop music on a CD player now blares in both bars.
Pubs like this used to be are few and far between. On my last visit it was more like a town pub in Stevenage than a lovely country pub in a delightful hamlet.

The Woodman, Ware
Returning after more than a year, the pub was almost empty yet there was no welcome from the barman. I left after one pint as he made it clear that he wanted to close early by cleaning around me. Not a pub I shall be rushing back to.
