The Beaufort, Montpelier

Lovely old boozer in the same hands for donkey's years. I wish they'd have a better range of beer - there's only Butcombe on (in o.k. condition) or Webster's! A couple of guest ales would make this place the business. The most polite and friendly staff (and welcome) going though and the best takeaway curry in Bristol right next door. A pleasent alternative from the Cadbury.

The Bell, Bristol

Impolite barmaid encountered on a weekday lunchtime. Four ales on, but all far too similar - Butcombe, Sunrise, Butcombe Gold and Butcombe IPA - shows lack of knowledge and ale variety. Beer reasonably well kept though. Food looked pretty poor compared to what's on offer up the road at the Canteen. Pretty average.
