The Three Horseshoes, Thursley

We booked in for lunch today (Sunday). We were placed at a tiny corner table in the bar area and not in the dining area, although in all fairness we had been told we would be sitting in the bar area. The food took 40 minutes to arrive, with no apology or without any member of staff communicating with us at all during this period - in other words, we were ignored completely. Two of us ordered duck confit. We had to send both plates back after the first mouthful because the accompanying potatoes were raw (dauphinoise). When the meals were returned and the duck was tasted, it most certainly was not "confit". It was dry to the bone and tasteless. The experience was so negative at this stage that we quietly complained to the manageress. She assured us that the duck was "confit", but we suggested that we call it quits and that we just paid for the two starters, which were okay, and the drinks. She accepted this. All in all the experience was very disappointing especially as one of the chefs worked at Chez Bruce, an old favourite restaurant of ours.
