The Sir Paul Pindar, Bishopsgate

Can't understand all the negative reviews of this pub. Taking 20 minutes to get served an under-filled, watered-down half-pint of Carling by a surly Eastern European harridan is what makes Britain British.

The Ship Tavern, City of London

Small basement pub near Leadenhall Market. Looks like a right dive from the outside but downstairs lies an air-conditioned paradise. Dartboard, pork scratchings, big TV, friendly bar staff and meals for a credit-crunch busting 3. Yes, THREE POUNDS!! Perfect place to hide from the boss on a hot day.

The Fox, Old Street

If you're ever caught short in the no-man's land between Old St and Broadgate then it's well worth draining your weasel here. You won't find a lovelier set of clean, pine-scented bogs in London.
