I have been twice midday. The staff are great. Good and varying real ales, good food at reasonable prices, interesting New York themed d�cor. Clean toilets. Can't fault it really.

The Star and Eagle Hotel, Goudhurst

I agree with Adrian_S re the charm, countryside and toilets but that's where it stops for me. I arrived and found two of the three different cask ales were off. There was grudging acknowledgement for one barrel which was taken off of sale. The other I was told had a "particularly hoppy taste" - yeah right! However, I believe that barrel was also soon changed. I had a simple cheese baguette which would have been fine for �5 but not �7.50. As for the friendly staff - well I think they must have had the day off when I went!
