The Pendle Witch, Atherton

Small, cosy and serves excellent ales, my favorites being their own Moorhouses Black Cat, Pride of Pendle and Pendle Witches Brew. If you can't get into the January Bent and Bongs Beer Bash due to overcrowding, I advise going over to this pub for just as good a time... followed by a shortish walk to the Far Pavillion Indian near the train station for a dam good Vindaloo and Peshwari!

The Duke of Cambridge, Tilford

Food delicious. I recommend the warm duck salad to start followed by pushing the boat out for the seasonal special fillet steak. They also have outstanding deserts to satisfy any sweet taste (creme brulee being my favorite). If you like your ales served well, then try the ones they have here, last week I was on Hobgoblin, Tea and Loxley. Lovely. Staff are very friendly, with faultless service. I have eaten 5 times there in the last few weeks and have yet to be dissapointed in any way. To end a good evening, they have Jura whiskey - what more could you wish for... perhaps accommodation? I stayed at Woodgreen House B&B directly opposite - ideal.
