The Load Of Hay, Uxbridge

Lordy only knows why there are negative remarks about here. The onmly thing I have to complain about occasionally is the cold back room when the fire isn't on.

The beers are varied and generally interesting and Grant is a really nice bloke in my opinion. Everyone I know who has eaten here has said the food is good to very good. Sure it isn't Michelin star but this is pub grub.

It's generally reasonably busy and has a load of locals. The language can be a bit choice but perhaps that's because it's a pub. If I can't swear in a pub where can I go.

There's a smoking area round the back and they often smoke round the front.

Occasionally you have to wait a few minutes to be served while a group of students pour in and um and ah about what they want but I've never waited more than ten minutes.

8 out of ten but soon be 9 if he changes from Guiness to Marstons Oyster Stout

Mabel's Tavern, Euston

A nice Shepherd Neame pub. The beer is well kept. TVs well spaced around the place. Has Setanta so will definitely visit her again.

The Euston Flyer, Euston

Souless Fullers pub. Beer well kept. There are better pubs in the area so I will not be returning in a hurry.

The Bree Louise, Euston

The Bree Louise is all about the ale. I went there last night and had about 8 different ales all of which were well kept and none were the usual. I had two exceptional ales - Adnams Oyster Stout and DarkstarM. The food looks great value for money. I will say the place is a bit grotty but nothing unpleasant. I will be amking this a regular haunt.

The Warwick Castle, Maida Vale

Just a quick point. I went into this pub a couple of weeks ago and the friend I was with felt decidely ill. She therefore decided to fall aslepp in front of the fire and had nothing to eat or drink. She was still made to feel welcome by the barstaff which is unusual in this day and age.

I had a beer and the stew both of which were excellent.

The Old Blue Last, Shoreditch

Smells of wee. Nuff said.

Auberge, Uxbridge

I have always liked this place since the day it opened. It is very serene and calm, the staff are courteous and the food good. The beer is Belgian and they have a good selection. Throughly recommendable.

The White Hart, Harlington

I quite like this pub and come here every month after my union meeting. The pub is generally very good and on the odd occasion it has been off when told they have taken it off or changed the barrel which is a nice change.

It's no pricier than the rest of West London and the clientele are friendly enough but they do mind their own business. It's probably the best pub near Heathrow terminals 1-3 (take the 140 bus and it's ten minutes away).

Has the football, does decent food. Pretty good all round.

The George and Dragon, Yiewsley

Used to be a decent boozer doing real ale but that seems to have stopped. I guess it's OK if you want lager and to watch the footy. Otherwise I would avoid it.

Paddington Packet Boat, Uxbridge

This is a reasonable enough pub for locals. The beer is decent as is the food. It can get a bit noisy at the weekend but that's generally fine. Can't say anything exciting about this place but it's OK.

It is the best pub within walking distance of West Drayton Station (15 minutes down the high street).

The De Burgh Arms, West Drayton

I used to love this pub. It did good food and great beers all at a reasonable price. Now however it is disgusting. No real ale and the clientele are the local racist scum who sepnd their time getting drunk before or after spending time in court. Yuk!

In fact just avoid West Drayton and Yiewsley as there is no longer a decent pub in the vicinity (the nearest one is the Paddington Packet Boat which is about fifteen minutes walk up the high street)

The Freemasons Arms, Covent Garden

The Freemasons is a good pub which does decent food and decent beer. The only problem is that being near Covent Garden is gets very busy and getting a seat can be a real problem. I therefore tend to drink elsewhere these days.

The Freemasons does however have one selling point over many others - it has Setanta. This means I will be coming here for all the upcoming England away games even if I have to stand.

Ye Olde White Bear, Hampstead

This is my favourite pub in London. I reguialrly go here with friends who also live a distance away. The beer is excellent and unusual and the food is reasonably priced pub grub fayre.
