The Victoria, Bayswater

Recently visited this pub as a change from the Fullers pub on Paddington station. This is the best out of the two, and possibly best in the area. Very good selection of well kept Fullers ales on tap. Reasonably priced good food too.

Not full of tourists like some of the station area pubs in London probably because it invloves a walk to get to! Locals seem welcoming and friendly enough.

Will definitely visit again.

Spotted Dog, Cold Ash

Now under new management. The internal decor has been part updated, and a proper beer garden area setup. Gone some way to modernising the pub without pushing out the previous regulars.

Beers have changed slightly. London Pride stays, and is joined by Courage Best. A third guest ale also on tap (currently at time of posting Youngs Special). All seem to be well kept.

Food menu has also been updated. Out go the the expansive selection of brought in meals, now replaced by a smaller selection of home cooked meals. Have only tried a steak which was well cooked and presented.

The Ship Tavern, City of London

Stopped off at this pub en-route to my destiniation. Nicely tucked away from the bussle of the main road which makes it pleasant to sit outside in the good weather, and also easy to get served (it was a sunday though). Good selection of well kept real ale's, friendly staff who had no problem allowing me to try beers before ordering. Unfortunately lack of time stopped me being able to sample the food hence only a 7 rating at the moment!

The Teign House Inn, Christow

Great pub, another I have visited many times over the years. Can't remember the name of the brew I had, it was a local ale, Otter Brewery perhaps? Was well kept though.

Food is also very good. Well worth a visit.

The Artichoke, Christow

Been to this pub many times over the years, its always been consistently good. The owners have been there for years now. Normally at least two real ales on, a local brew and Bass served straight from the barrel. Never had a bad pint. Food is excellent.

Pub is approximately 9 miles outside Exeter. Note that the road leading to it is narrow 1 car wide in most places.

Pub worthy of a 10 in my book as its the sort of pub I like, just gets a 9 due to road situation which is really outside their control!!

The Kings Head, Earls Court

Visited recently on a Saturday lunchtime after not using it for a while. I guess this must be the time to try this pub as it was quiet so service wasn't a problem. Still good beer and decent food. At least two real ales on which were well kept.

The Royal Standard, Portsmouth

A Navy pub with plenty of local characters! Small bar area. Courage Directors bitter was on tap when I visited, decent pint of Guinness served.

Possibly not a pub to attend for football fans wearing away colours.

The Surrey Arms, Portsmouth

Probably first pub you'll find when walking to town centre from the station. It was quiet considering it was midday and football was on.

Morland's Old Speckled Hen was on when I visited, though I shouldn't think its a pub that turns over a lot of real ale. Food was typical town pub food, nothing wrong with the meals I'd ordered though.

Great proper pub. Had a trip to Birmingham for football and made sure we found this pub. Well kept real ales, good atmosphere. Worth a trip to Birmingham just for this place which deserves the awards it has.

The Mad Bishop and Bear, Paddington

Good pub due to the well kept Fullers range of beers. Busy in evenings and steady stream of people at weekends. Not a locals pub though, used mainly by people using rail services or on their way to sports events.

Good pub food, though make sure you check your food order once its been placed as from experience some of the foreign staff have misheard my order.

The Mill House, Thatcham

To sum up, a dump. OK the pub is on a housing estate but the people who use the pub probably aren't that local, more likely to be from the rough estate further down the road. Expect to see bottles flying.

Spotted Dog, Cold Ash

Possibly not the most attractive pub however its a proper locals pub really that may be classed as being behind the times. Not a bad thing, I don't like big chain pubs that are all the same.

Well kept Fullers London Pride. Normally guest ales on tap, one usually being a local West Berks Brewery ale. Food is good value pub fayre, not posh nosh where you get one potato on your plate!

The Coat and Badge, Putney

Went to this pub before a football game at Fulham as the queue at the Whetherspoons was 3 deep at the bar. Much quicker service in here, though I will admit it got busier by the time I left. Good selection of real ales (3GBP a pint), that appeared to be well kept though this could be due to the amount being sold on that day.
