The Green Man, Edney Common

New landlords offering up market restaurant menu and lunchtime bar menu .Those only wanting a drink can enjoy two real ales [one greene king and one local ale] I tried Captain Bob from Mighty Oak which was very good in front of the huge log fire.

The White Hart Inn, Margaretting Tye

Well run house with friendly, knowledgeable staff.Ussually a good selection of ales but could maybe do with afew more from micros.Popular for food with good menu plus great specials board.Always busy, potential diners should definitley book.Well kept extensive gardens ease the pressure in warmer months.Currently well deserved local camra pub of the year and should proceed further up the rankings.

Ivory Peg, Chelmsford

Usually a good range of real ales often a pound a pint cheaper than some other nearby outlets. But bar service so slow maybe they should introduce a queing system like the post office!... "NEXT!"...

Cricketers, Chelmsford

A local"s local run by long standing taciturn landlord .Usually an interesting guest ale or two alongside the ubiquitous G.K offering.Great value sunday roasts.Well established on the Chelmsford real ale map

The Old Olive Bush, Flecknoe

3rd November 2007 - Friendly village local. The real fires were very welcoming on a cold night. Whilst menu isn't extensive it is done well. Top quality steaks from local butcher with home made onion rings. The home made desserts are delicious and portions are large. Well kept beer, often with one guest from a local micro brewery. Good atmosphere, good food and a friendly welcome.
