The Bounty, Bourne End

bloody crowded in the summer... if you want to relax and have a pint by the river you could probably find better, but its an ok place to get a good view of the hordes down at Bourne End's redeveloped waterside... I can't believe people buy those houses, it must be like living in a goldfish bowl.

The Ferry, Cookham

Sorry, don't agree at all... Went there for a meal on a Saturday night... you can't park in Cookham ofr love nor money, the place was heaving, nowhere to sit and have a drink before our meal, service was slow, starter had to be returned for being cold, main went back too. Rare is not the same as raw!!

The menu is ok, but its typical of the new breed of overpriced, glossy gastropubs that are more style over substance.

Pretty disappointed all round really, but at least its no longer a Harvester!!

The Charles Dickens, Beaconsfield

Great food, the sunday lunch is the best around... better than the god awful chain pubs dominating the main street.

The Red Lion, Wooburn Green

It does exactly what it says on the tin, and good on them for not trying to be something it never will be. Its a good honest pub with friendly staff. If you want something quieter or more intimate, cross the green!!

The Glory Mill, Wooburn Green

Changed hands yet again, just when it appeared to be getting back on its feet!! Not sure which way its going to go now...

The Royal Standard of England, Beaconsfield

It could fall into that tourist trap, but doesn't in my opinion. I agree that the local Rebellion beer is really good... want to buy the house next door.
