Bad vibes in this pub. Many of the regular drinkers have fled, and there are rumours that the owners have run up major financial losses. This is very disappointing, since this part of Hertfordshire is hardly swamped with decent pubs; anyone with some business acumen should make a killing. Oh well.

Nice enough, but apparently this place is still struggling to find a long-term tenant. I detect another possible own-goal by Punch Taverns.

Is this pub really OK? There seem to be loads of tiles missing from the roof!

I read the reviews for this pub, then visited. On the whole it's fine btu i am puzzled by the food policy. They are really pulling out all the stops during the current St Albans Food & Drink Festival, but at other times (esp Mondays) they are turning punters away coz there is no grub! Also I think they are a bit short of chefs at the mo, so overall they cd try harder.

I don't know the history of this place, but I popped in yesterday and it was totally fine. Full selection of Fullers ales and good service.

Fabulous pub, well run, good beers and great food. Hard to fault.

Rather unfriendly clientele, but this pub has its charms.
