The Samson and Lion Inn, Bordesley Green

Most of the locals in the bar boast to have done a spell in Winson Green Prison. But don't worry its not compulsary! Its a keep yourself to yourself pub, which does a cheap pint. I use it on the way to the match and bring my own pals for company, but not suitable for social drinking or making new friends.

The Gables Tavern, Small Heath

Unless your an alcoholic who has given up on life, do yourself a favour and give this one a miss. This pub has gone by many names but has consistently attracted the dregs of society. It is not one of the better pubs in Small Heath, but provides a place for all the people who have been barred from other pubs and ensures they are contained in one establishment. If your life is comfortable and boring and you don't believe that really bad pubs still exist, pop in for a pint and then thank god your not one of them.

The Gun Makers Arms, Small Heath

This pub is not that easy to describe. It is a match pub for Birmingham City fans and pulls in a good crowd on match days.
If you don't mind listening to sad looking 40 year old blokes complaining about how much the area has changed and the complete lack of females then its worth a visit. Its not a bad pint.

One Trick Pony Club, Moseley

This pub is no good if there are a lot of people in it because it always has inexperienced, slow talkative staff behind the bar. If your a student, homesick and want a safe alternative, this is the place for you. A pub to visit, but never a local. One of a chain, same as....

The Dark Horse, Moseley

People come from all over to drink in this pub and stand and sit outside when the weather is good. Being a local, I don't see the attraction. The beer is expensive and it just lacks atmosphere. Most of the patrons are on their way somewhere else.

Goose on Two Streets, Kings Heath

A pub for young people to play up in!

Goose At The Fighting Cocks, Moseley

This pub is very much a locals pub, but friendly enough and the beer is cheap. The staff are friendly but its not a pub for young people looking to meet young people unless you want to meet one of the barstaff. OK for a couple of pints but not to settle in for the night. Less prententious than some of the other pubs in Moseley that have invested in developing an image.
