It may now have re-opened, but whenever i have been there it has been closed.
they must have some manic opening hours, - whether they feel like opening or not.
but when it is open it is nice. coudl be a bit more family friendly though.

The man who took over the red lion started off by barring all of the locals. and not allowing children in on sunday afternoons, we don't drink there anymore!

This is a nice pub if your on over �100,000 a year salary or work for porsche!

This is now propably the nicest pub in the village, no more pool tables or pikeys, exceellent food served all day, till 9pm!, will even prepare food not on the menu if you ask nicely.
New managment too, v.friendly, quiz on mondays, karokoe occasioanly.
some special offers on house doubles (70mls!!) �2.70 -
The beer is cheaper than most of thte other pubs in the village too, unlike �3.20 a pint in the volunteer.
all in all a good daytime boozer, or night out.

The Red Lion, Theale
Since my last comment (1st Feb '05) the Red Lion now has new management and is a lovely place for a beer or two (3 or 4....)
On sundays they even put roast potatoes and sausages on the bar for customer nibbles.
