The Whitestone Inn, Ballasalla

Popped in for something to eat with the Missus on the second of January and was impressed with the place. Had not been for quite a while and the layout & tidyness was the first thing to get a thumbs up. The food was excellent and decent value, and there is a good amount of space between those dining and those drinking to keep everyone happy.

The Lion Inn, Telford

Cracking pub which is friendly, has decent regualrs, a well kept house and serves really good ale, all of which can be somewhat of a rarity in Telford (outside of Ironbridge).

Anyone visiting Telford for events / work should seriously consider using this as their base during their stay - there is a guest house nextdoor, it is out of the way and is near enough to the train station & motorway to be classed as convenient. Agree with Xopher's sentiments regarding visiting as a drinker; if you find yourself a cosy corner, you are set for as long as you want to be set for.

The Prospect Hotel, Douglas

Definitely one of the best 'drinkers' pubs in town with a good Landlord backed up by good staff. Usually 3/4 guests on which change regulalry and the best Heineken in Douglas, which, given it is pretty common is decent praise.

Very popular on Fridays and busy enough throughout the rest of the week to give a good atmosphere. It tends to be used as a starting point for a lot of crawls around town, but I know of a good few people who have stayed well beyond their scheduled swift one. If you like proper pubs, you will like the Prospect.
