The Buxted Inn, Buxted

We visited Buxted Inn today for lunch.
We had a fantastic meal. Our two daughters were also very happy with their choice of chicken breast strips with choice of vegetables. They were given a wide choice from the menu as well.
I had a gorgeous beef roast; the meat was cooked to perfection and plentiful, the potatoes were very tasty and the vegetables fresh. My husband ate a home made burger and hand cut chips and stated that our meal was "the best pub meal he had had in years"
The staff were all very attentive and overall service was excellent.
I cannot fault this pub in any way, and we will definitely return and recommend to our friends.

The Castle Hotel, Saltwood

What fantastic service and food!
We stayed here for my daughter's second birthday. We booked four rooms and ate here on a Saturday night.
From the moment I called to book the rooms to the moment we left, we could not fault the service.
The rooms were clean and airy. The food was fantastic; Great variety, quality and a kids menu.
All of the staff were friendly and accommodating, and fine about our four lively children!
We would definately reccomed and return to The Castle when visiting Hythe or surrounding areas.

The Kentish Hare, Bidborough

Nice pub, friendly staff, child friendly pub, but the garden is small unfortunately.

Lovely fresh food and great choice. Reasonably priced, and good ales and wine.
A definate recommendation!

Chafford Arms, Fordcombe

We visited the Chafford Arms on a Sunday lunchtime with our two children.
The staff were very friendly and helpful in getting the kids settled into their seats.

The menu was comprehensive, and we ordered a roast dinner, sausages and mash and fish and chips for the kids.

The food arrived in about five minutes! Very worrying, as it was obviously all par cooked/microwaved.

We were very disappointed as the location is excellent, and the garden would be great to eat in once the weather gets warmer, but the quality of the food was very poor.

The pub itself was well presented, but not very busy, especially for a Sunday lunchtime. I expect this is why they could not order fresher goods as they would go to waste. - Perhaps they should have a more limited menu?

This could be a little goldmine. Pubs in the neighbouring villages are very popular and have fantastic reputations for their food, and I think The Chafford Arms could learn a lot and become a great success.

Marine, Ryde

My wife and I stumbled across this bar/diner whilst looking for somewhere to eat with our two very young children.

From the outside to be honest it does little to inspire. However from the moment that we stepped inside the welcome and service that we received was nothing short of fantastic; They couldn't have been more accommodating to our children if they had tried.

On visiting the bar I was slighlty dissapointed by the lack of any cask ale but a superb pint of Guiness and a couple of glasses of good pedigree wine more than made up for this.

The food menu at first glance appeared to be the standard fare of burgers, battered fish and one or two creatively named sandwhches. My wife chose the 'freshly caught' battered cod, and fries and I went for a thai chicken curry from a specials board, given to us by one of the charming members of staff.

The staff were very friendly, offering games and books to our children, and the changing facilities were adequate too.

Quite simply, the food was amazing. I was astounded by the thai dish with it's exquisite mixture of flavours that had been expertly crafted by the chef.

The battered cod was absoultely huge and full of flavour - indeed my wife later claimed that it was the best battered fish that she had ever tasted!

The Marine bar doesnt appeal in the way that a cosy - and often overpriced - country pub might. It lacks the character and pretentiousness to pull this off.

What is does offer though is food of the very highest standard (especiall;y considering that the average price on the menu was around 8) and staff that obviously care a great deal about making this establishment a success.

The Barn, Tunbridge Wells

Great pub, lovely food, good quality and reasonable prices.

Really nice garden area, but need to get there early for a seat.

Not very child friendly (No chaning area, highchairs or kids meals) but enough space outside to leave a pushchair and for kids to sit up.

Good choice of food, lovely home made burgers, large quantities of food too!

Staff not very welcoming though!

The Junction Inn, Groombridge

We returned for Father's Day, where the offer of "Accompanied Dad's, main meal Free" was very appealing! The offer was a horrendous act of False Advertising. - You had to buy 3 main meals to receive the fouth free (These could not include children's meals) and although our party included four adults, because two had already ordered and paid for their meals, we (Ordering less than a minute later) could not claim for our meal, as we had ordered afterwards!

There were several other families also complaining about this complete joke of an offer, which ruined our whole experience at The Junction.

The meals themselves (Standard Beef roast) were average, beef good quality, but barely warm, same as the vegetables.

The garden is lovely for the children, but unfortunately a god beer garden hardly compensates for the poor food offer and average food and service.

The Hare, Langton Green

Nice clean roomy pub, but not child friendly at all. No high chairs, no kids menu, no changin facilities, and kids have to be out by 7pm.

Food pretty good, but 10 for a burger and chips, it's pretty pricey.

Can get very busy at weekends, but a nice atmosphere exists within.

The Cricketers, Clavering

Fantastic pub/restaurant. Very cosy atmosphere.

Very busy, so would need to book. Fantastic fresh food, lots of choice, Great kids meals, and reasonably priced. We had Spaghetti Bolognese and Steak and Kidney pie. Both were full of quality meat and cooked to perfection.

No baby changing facilities though, and not a great deal of room for kids to runa round, but kids were provided with colouring things and stickers, so were satisfied!
