This is my local and i'm over the moon is back open, pool table is back and a fruit machine and now I don't need to work up to the main road to drink warm flat beer as the pint I had was reasonably priced and served perfectly - look forward to the entertainment that the manager was informing me would be happening closer to Christmas!!

This is going to be an example of a pub who in the New Year will be complaining that business has been hit by the smoking ban � what a load of rubbish!! � this pub can easily cope with the bad weather, the smoking ban but what it does need is a big overhaul of retail standards as they are terrible, I'm not sure whats going on with the manager but surely he shouldn't be stood behind the bar, drinking, wearing an unironed t-shirt with his breakfast down the front!!, it needs someone to replace lightbulbs, clean tables and a friendly welcome, unless you've been local you are made to feel decisdely uncomfortable - this is my local I've tried it twice now but I won't be back again, I'll be one of the many that walk the 20 minutes into town instead!!

What has happened to the great british quiz??? - we went last night for the 2nd time and again the same thing happened - we couldn't hear the quiz master and most of the teams had 5 mobile phones/blackberrys etc between them to look at the internet contact friends etc to find the answers!!
What ever happened to just having fun - I don't think the winners are going to be rich (�25 for a team of 8) - even those who answered the jackpot question correctly cheated and were even way beyond the 60secs given to hand in their answer sheet
Very disappointed and won't be back for the quiz!!
The pizza's are good though!

This is a pub in a fantastic location on the River Wey, you can sometimes wait for the food but that comes with the territory of a good pub, with good food and good weather.
I think big_mal misses the point in relation to Punch, they own freeholds not the business and as such it is the responsibility of the lease holder to invest in the pub not the pub company who own the 'bricks and mortar'. Your friend of a friend will know the company that lease it not Punch but albeit it doesn't really matter as the lease holders have now bought the freehold.
Overall though this is a good pub, and I can only think that with the purchase of the freehold there will now be an ivestment that can help make the pub a great place to go 12 months of the year, not just when the weather is good.
