Leaping Salmon, Berwick upon Tweed

Often pay a visit to Berwick and usually have a couple of pints in this establishment. Good selection of beer and has always been well kept when I've visited. On my last visit I had a couple of pints of Bass which was spot on. As my wife is not a drinker the addition of coffee is a real bonus for us. She had a cafe latte which she said was excellent. A pint of Bass and a latte for 2.25. Now that's value. Give it a try.

The Trent Bridge Inn, West Bridgford

It has to be said, not my type of place. Nitrokeg beer and pretty souless. On my last visit had a bottle of some tasteless lager, one game of pool and left for the excellent Southbank Bar.

The Southbank Bar, West Bridgford

Have to agree with views of previous reviewers. A class act. Great beer, pleasent staff, good food and all the TVs you'll ever need to watch the football and cricket.

The Larwood and Voce Tavern, West Bridgford

Was in daytime a few times beginning August. Remember when this place was a bustling establishment. Only time it was busy was on the Saturday when Forest were at home to Bradford City. Then again every pub in the area was busy that day! Has loads of potential but needs money spent on the interior. Beer selection not great. I was reduced to John Smiths Extra Smooth, which was ok. The Guinness is also acceptable.

The Bell Inn, Nottingham

Always visit 'The Bell' when in Nottingham. Very nice pub. Did prefer it before it became a Hardy and Hansons house. Having said that the selection of guest ales is usually pretty good. Even midweek daytime can get very busy. All in all, well worth a visit.

Ye Olde Trip to Jerusalem, Nottingham

Have been visiting Nottingham at least once a year for the last 10 years or so. Always pay a visit to 'The Trip'. Last visit was the beginning of August 2006. Have to say the quality of the beer has gone back in that time. Maybe it's the Hardy and Hanson thing. At one time they always used to have Marstons Pedigree as a guest ale and this was always beautifully kept. My son (a real ale fan like myself) drinks lager when we now visit this establishment. Maybe tells you something? Still a unique building. Last few visits has been busy weekends and midweek. Loads of foreign tourists which I suppose is understandable. Has gone back over the years in my opinion.
