The Park Crescent, Brighton

Friend of mine took me here for a beer and banter whilst in Brighton for a few days. Nice friendly pub with a fantastic bar maid/wench called Robbie, who has a wonderful smile and a sense of humour. I hope we will meet again Robbie. Would return for more jovolities and a little libation and food.

The Castle Green Inn, Taunton

Popped in the other day for something to eat with friends. Nice meal and friendly staff that smiled. The ales on offer where from 2.20 and there was a nice atmosphere. Would return.

The Moat House, Taunton

This place now resembles a back street Dublin boozer with no atmosphere, rude staff, lighting turned down to a minimum and no food. I can see why the Irish dragon landlady could not run a pub in her own country. Call in St George to get rid of the dragon and put her out of her misery. Try the Pitcher and Piano opposite or even the bar in the bingo hall!

The Malt and Hops, Taunton

Strange atmosphere. Is it a pub or restaurant? Friendly staff, send your mother-in-law and wife there for a meal while you venture into the realms of sniffing out some ale elsewhere!

The Racehorse Inn, Taunton

Yes, the only decent pub in Taunton. Decent managers with a sense of humour and a great atmosphere. No kids and great real ales, not to mention the best Guiness in the area.

The Pen & Quill, Shuttern

Used to be a nice little place to have a bite to eat and a few liquid refreshments. Went in a week ago and was served by a po faced girl with nicoteen staines on her fingers. Put me off eating, and from going back again.

Que Pasa, Taunton

A bit quiet but the staff are fun and friendly. Good food at lunchtime and you can get a bottle of Piat Dor wine for under a fiver. Not bad.

I heard Gordon Ramsay is popping in to show them how to cook?

The Pitcher and Piano, Taunton

Used to be a good watering hole, especially when the rugby was on with some decent nosh. Now more expensive than London pubs, what is going on? It's in Taunton, not Knightsbridge. I see the kitchen was nearly shut down by the local council. It did not score any stars at all in the local environmental health check which you can check on at the Taunton Dean Council web-site. Mr Scrumptious kebabs had a higher score!! Check it out yourself if you don't believe me.
