The Old House At Home, Blackley
Looks like it's been/being converted to a house. A sad loss if it's true.

The Hare and Hounds, Manchester
Holt's, Holt's, Holt's. What more can one say.
Cracking little Manchester boozer, top beer, eclectic clientele, easy on the pocket.
Only one gripe, the disinfectant smell that hits the nasal passages as you stroll in.

First visit since it reopened, glad to say all the old pub character is still there.
Not a real fan of Robbies but the Unicorn was top notch. Well worth the call in.

Great little bar, sampled the Titanic Lifeboat and, excuse the pun, it went down really well, especially with the house Perfectly Pulled Pork Sandwich.

Trof Northern Quarter, Manchester
Nice Bar, multi floored, Open Mic night Mondays; BUT no real ale, a real pity.

Popped in yesterday (5th May) and enjoyed a few pints of Holts. The place has been taken over by the people at the Castle Hotel on Oldham Street and seems destined to serve beer for many a year more which is great news. Holts Bitter and IPA plus 3 other beers of which names I can't recall. The TVs gone and the old snug looked like it'd had a coat of paint. There were plenty of people in which gave the Lamp Oil Shop a friendly atmosphere. Well worth the stroll.

Holt's finally decided to spend some money on this place and at first I was fearing the worst but after an impromptu visit last week they've done us proud.

Popped in last night around 6 ish there were around a dozen people in. The place is as I remember it being a couple of years ago the ales were all on form: Beartown's Bear Ass, Jarrow Brewery's Rivet catcher, Abbeydale's Brimstone and last but not least Old Master's Xmas Sermon. Chris behind the bar was fastidiously making the bar area spotlessly clean.
Top Pub................

Dined 3 times now and it's superb. You'll have to book well in advance for a weekend table for two.

It's now open as an Italian Bar Restaurant; called, ironically 'Il Toro' ;-)

Called in last night and asked for a pint of Guinness a glass of cider and a pint of diet coke. No cider so plummed for another pint of coke. One of the young ladies in our group upon returning from the loo asked the barman if she could have the ice taken out of the coke, which he promptly did. The level of the fluid fell to roughly half way down. We then asked for the glass to be 'Topped Up'. To our amazement he declined saying the ice was included in the measure.
After a few words re: misinformation/sales of good act to no avail....................
Won't be going there again.........

Old Time Holt's house. Good ale. This place should have a perpetual award for its interior woodwook and tiling.
(I think it had an award in the past)

Called in here last month (Oasis Concert) and was bitterly disappionted by the so called managers attitude. I asked for a pint of bitter which turned out to be cloudy so I asked for diferent ale which was duly given, alas this was also cloudy. When I asked for it to be exchanged the Gobby Young Manager decided I was being the arkward one and refused to serve me. What a Godsh!te...............
..........wont be going in there again!!

Great pub parts of which date back to the 17C. Cosy rooms, flagged floors, good hot 'snack' food & music on certain nights. Good selection of Real Ales.

A proper back street boozer and serving Manchesters Finest: HOLTS
A Salford Gem known locally as the Lamp Oil Shop. Was reputedly know as one of the last pubs in Salford to obtain its Liqour Licence.
